Northborough Police Host DEA National RX Takeback Day Site

NORTHBOROUGH - The Northborough Police Department is taking part in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration [DEA] National RX Take Back Day.

National Take Back Day is on Saturday, April 24.

The Northborough Police Department will co-host a site in the parking lot at 211 Main St between 10 AM and 2 PM. Any individual can take leftover or expired medications to the site for safe disposal. Drive through service will be available.

According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants, and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019. The survey also showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
