See the 17 Worcester County Locations for National Prescription Drug Takeback Day

WORCESTER – The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) holds its National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 22.

Seventeen police departments across Worcester County will co-host a prescription drug take back site between 10 AM and 2 PM. Any individual can take leftover or expired medications to the site for safe disposal.

According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants, and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019. The survey also showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
