Man Arrested in Pedestrian Crash Involving 80-Year-Old Woman

SHREWSBURY – Shrewsbury Police, the Shrewsbury Fire Department and Worcester EMS dispatched to South Quinsigamond Ave. on Thursday morning after a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Officers located an 80-year-old Shrewsbury woman at the scene. EMS transported the woman to UMass Memorial Medical Center.

The investigation led officers to believe a Toyota Camry was involved in the crash but fled the scene before first responders arrived.

Shortly after 11 AM, a Shrewsbury Police officer identified a Camry with damage consistent with a collision. An officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle near South Quinsigamond Ave. and Old Faith Rd.

An investigation led the officer to conclude this vehicle was involved in the earlier crash.

Louis Hanley, 35, of Shrewsbury, faces charges of:

  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Personal Injury
  • Operating Under the Influence of Drugs
  • Marked Lane Violation.
