WORCESTER – Early Thursday morning, officers with the Dudley Police Department found 44-year-old Joseph Carpenter, of Worcester, hiding in a tree house behind a residence on Laura Way in Dudley.

According to the Dudley PD, Carpenter had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was found in the tree house in possession of several items that have been determined to have been stolen from vehicles in the area.

Carpenter is charged with receiving stolen property, disturbing the peace, and trespassing. He is also charged with motor vehicle theft of a 2013 Mercedes that had been reported stolen out of Charlton. Dudley PD officers found the vehicle parked on the side of the road on Laura Way prior to Carpenter’s arrest.

A check by the officers found the vehicle to still be warm and proved that it had been abandoned not long before the arrest.

Webster Police K9 Officer Aaron Suss and his dog Bandit responded along with Webster Officer Michael O’leary. Dudley Officers Tyler Smith and James Mastrogiovanni responded to assist with the search. The officers tracked the area before finding Carpenter.
