2 Killed in Charlton in Apparent Murder/Suicide Identified

The individuals found with gunshot wounds at a home on Southbridge Road in Charlton on Sunday, January 2, have been identified.

The female victim was 37-year-old Kristen Carey. Keith Cuthbertson, 49, was the male police found at the scene.

Both Carey and Cuthbertson lived at the address where the incident occurred.

CHARLTON – Massachusetts State Police are investigating a shooting at a Southbridge Rd. home in Charlton that left two people dead.

According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.’s office, the deaths of a male and female are the product of an apparent murder-suicide.

A call around 7 PM on Saturday, January 2, reported an argument between a couple at the home and resulted in Police and EMS being dispatched to the scene.

When first responders arrived, they found an adult male who appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was dead.

An adult female at the scene had multiple gunshot wounds. First responders provided medical assistance, but the woman later died due to her injuries.

Local officials have not released the names of the two individuals pending notification of family members.

The investigation remains ongoing.

State Police Detective Unit, Charlton Police, EMS, State Police Crime Scene Services, the MSP Firearms Identification Section and forensic scientists assigned to the State Police Crime Lab have participated in the investigation.
