WORCESTER – POW! WOW! Worcester, a street art festival, will return for its fifth year from August 13 to August 22. This year, the event is primarily taking place in the Main South neighborhood with a focus on amplifying youth voices.

At least five murals will appear at sites throughout the neighborhood. Walking tours of existing and new murals, pop-up gatherings at local business establishments, and other community events are also part of the festival.

The focus of the event is reimagining the exterior spaces around Jacob Hiatt Magnet School which spans a full block on Main Street. Two POW! WOW! Worcester artists will work with Kathryn Egnaczak and her students to provide inspiration for their artwork.

Artists will also create a mural at the Regional Environmental Council’s YouthGrow farm. Organizers expect more locations announced before the event.

POW! WOW! Worcester recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to fundraise for the event.

Since its launch in 2016, POW! WOW! Worcester has curated more 160 pieces of public art, comprising 130 murals and several seasonal and permanent installations, and now maintains the largest collection of murals in the Northeast.

The effort is grassroots and locally supported that depends on sponsorships, donations, and volunteers.
