According to a report from the Providence Journal, the Providence City Council voted 6-2 in favor of $15 million in bonds for a new Pawtucket Red Sox stadium-financing deal on Tuesday evening.
Ultimately, the City of Providence will need the approval of Rhode Island legislature to allow the city to issue bonds for this project.
According to ProJo, the vote was not so much a vote for the bond money, but to keep legislatures in Rhode Island vetting a deal to bring the PawSox to Providence.
How this vote affects Worcester’s chances to lure the PawSox remains to be seen. Stay with ThisWeekinWorcester.com for more coverage on the PawSox to Worcester.
