On-Foot Pursuit Leads to Worcester Man Facing Drug Charges

WORCESTER – A Police response to a report of disorderly person led to the arrest of a local man on drug distribution charges.

Worcester Police arrived at a West Street address on Sunday, September 26, after a report at around 2:25 AM. When officers arrived, a man ran out the back door of a residence.

Officers recognized the man, Carlos James, 31, of Worcester, from a police department-wide email identifying him as wanted for questioning in connection with a separate larceny, according to Worcester Police.

When officers caught up to James, he was hiding one of his hands and taking a defensive stance. As officers attempted to grab him, James pulled away and ran, dropping items along tthe way.

Officers recovered several bags of what they believed to be cocaine and heroin after detaining James.

James faces charges of:

  • Possession of a Class A Substance with intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Class B Substance with intent to Distribute
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Disturbing the Peace
  • Furnishing a False Name
