Worcester Railers Sign New 5-Year Lease with DCU Center

WORCESTER – The Worcester Railers have signed a new five-year lease with the DCU Center that will keep the team in Worcester until at least the 2027-2028 season.

The Railers have 13 games left in its fifth season in competition in the ECHL since joining the league for the 2017-2018 season. They opted out of competition for the 2020-2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ECHL season was cancelled after the Railers had played 61 games in the 2019-2020 season.

The team currently holds fourth place in the North Division with 63 points in the standings and a record of 30-26-0-3 in those 59  games.

Four teams from each division compete in the playoffs in the ECHL. The Railers have a nine more points, the equivalent to four wins and an overtime loss, than the fifth place Adirondack Thunder. As of today, the Railers have played two more games than the Thunder.

Should the Railers finish in fourth place or better to finish the season, the team will make its the first playoff appearance since its inaugural season.
