The Worcester Railers continued their five game home stretch with a big win over the Reading Royals on Saturday, 2-1.

Railers Take Game Two Over Royals, 2-1 1

The Railers scored early with a goal from Barry Almeida off a deflected shot from Patrick McNally at 4:06 in the first period. Railers bench took a controversial penalty for a Faceoff Infraction at 14:40. The period ended with a fight from Chris Langkow and Loic Leduc at 18:56. Reading outshot Worcester in the first period, 9-7.

A quiet second period, with no goals from either team. Justin Hamonic took a penalty for interference at 2:13 and Mike Cornell had another for a Delay of Game at 4:06. Worcester outshot Reading in the second, 10-9.

Woody Hudson found the back of the net, scoring on a 2-on-1 and a top-shelf at 12:18 in the third. Reading’s Ryan Penny scored their lone goal at 15:58 shooting through the crowd and finding net. Worcester again outshot Reading during the third period, 12-9. Worcester outshot Reading during the game, 29-27.

Railers and Royals face off again on Sunday, November 5.

Railers Notes

Scratches for the Railers were Connor Doherty (injury), Jeff Kubiak, Ryan Lannon, Josh Monk (injury),  Wade Murphy, and Yannick Turcotte.

Ten Forwards and Six Defensemen were dressed for Saturday’s game. McAdam was dressed as the backup goaltender.

Railers wore ‘Slap Shot’ specialty jerseys that were auctioned off during and after the game. It is their second time wearing specialty jerseys (Oct. 28 at Utah) and are currently undefeated while wearing specialty jerseys.

Chris Saracino made his debut for the Railers against his former team. This was his first game playing since the 2013-14 season. Saracino made two shots on goal in his debut.

Woody Hudson is on a three game goal streak.

Matt Lane is on a two game point streak.
