WORCESTER - A Worcester County Grand Jury has indicted a local man in connection with a pedestrian crash that led to the death of a 5-year-old girl and injuries to her mother.
Christopher Remillard, 58, of Auburn, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide by negligence and negligent driving of a motor vehicle in the death of Candice Asare-Yeboah. Remillard also faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury for the injuries of her mother, Asha Nyarki Asare.
After receiving a report of a pedestrian crash at around 9:35 AM on April 18, 2022, police arrived at 91 Stafford St. to find Worcester firefighters treating Candice. Police determined that she and her mother were crossing Stafford St. when they were struck by the vehicle driven by Remillard.
Asare and Candice were taken to a local hospital after the crash. The injuries Candice sustained in the crash led to her death over a month later, on May 23, 2022.
Remillard was previously charged in Worcester District Court. The indictment moves the case to Worcester Superior Court.
