AUBURN – A traffic stop by a Massachusetts State Trooper led to the arrest of a man for four firearms and outstanding warrants on Wednesday, June 2.
The Trooper pulled over a black Chevrolet sedan on Rt. 290 near exit 9 in Auburn at 3:30 AM. After gathering information from the driver, George Richards, 51, of Riverside, RI, the Trooper noticed what appeared to be a firearm on the rear passenger floor.
Richards could not produce a license to carry firearms. The Trooper removed him from the vehicle.
After confirming Richards does not have a license to carry firearms, the Trooper discovered two active warrants from Uxbridge District Court for his arrest.
After arresting Richards, Troopers discovered four firearms, 177 rounds of ammunition, around $120,000 in cash and two magazines able to hold 13 rounds of ammunition.
A bail commissioner ordered Richards held without bail to face the following charges:
- Illegal Possession of a Firearm (four counts)
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (two counts)
- Possession of Ammunition without FID Card
- Marked Lanes Violation.
