“Every time Ricky gets on that stage, I know he’s going to kill it,” said Duran’s coach, country music star Blake Shelton. “He’s got kind of a gravely sound, but he’s just a very aggressive singer and I love that.”

Duran was the first of Shelton’s team members to be introduced at the start of the show.

Duran opened his performance in front of the band, but then tossed the guitar over his shoulder and made his way to the crowd to sing up close and personal.

“You’re the guy. You’re the singer on this show that you can’t really define. You can kind of do it all. I want America to vote you through tomorrow because you’re the guy we all want to see make it. You’re always going to come out here and deliver an incredible performance with great pitch and a cool, unique sound. But this is just a great dude, everybody. He deserves this opportunity,” Shelton said after Duran’s performance.
