Ricky Duran fans got a 2-for-1 deal on Monday night as the Worcester singer took the stage twice during the first night of The Voice’s Top 8 performances.

For his solo act, Duran performed The Beatles’ classic “Let it Be.” Duran’s coach, country music star Blake Shelton, applauded Duran’s song choice and said that Duran was “swinging for the fences.”

Duran described the song as his “family’s anthem,” and recalled his father and his uncles singing the song at family parties.

“It’s a song that makes us remember good times,” Duran said, whose father took his own life and, earlier this year, Duran lost his mother to breast cancer.

Duran added that before she passed, his mother’s message was “Let it be. There’s nothing that we can do.”

“I’m going to find peace in singing this song. And I can just imagine my mom comforting me and tell me to let it be,” an emotional Duran said.

Duran’s performance started with him at the piano before he took his guitar to a raised stage surrounded by backup singers.

Duran received a standing ovation from Shelton and the other three judges — Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani and John Legend.

Shelton said, “Dude, you just gave the vocal performance of your life. No doubt about it.”

Before his solo performance, Duran took the stage with fellow The Voice competitor Will Breman for a duo of The Outfield’s Your Love.

The song choice came from the show’s 1980s theme for the night and the pair took turns with electric guitar solos that brought down the house.
