WORCESTER – Police initiated a traffic stop for a violation on during the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 22, leading to the arrest of a man on gun charges.
Officers stopped a vehicle with two men inside for an expired inspection sticker at around 2:30 AM on Monday at the intersection of Hollis Street and Gardner Street. According to the Worcester Police Department, during questioning of the two men, the passenger provided a false name to officers.
Police identified that man as Alex Sanchez, 24. His city of residence was not provided.
Officers removed both men from the vehicle and searched for weapons, when they discovered a loaded handgun in Sanchez’s waistband.
Sanchez does not have a license to carry a firearm.
Sanchez faces charges of:
- Possession of a firearm without an LTC/FID;
- Possession of ammunition without a LTC/FID;
- Possession of a large-capacity firearm without an LTF/FID,;
- Possession of a large-capacity feeding device;
- Carry a loaded firearm without an LTC/FID; and
- Possession of an open container of alcohol.
Police also issued a citation to the driver for the open container and operating an uninspected motor vehicle
