A Worcester School Committee meeting on Thursday, June 20, that ran nearly six hours, ended with the committee approving a $485 million budget for the 2025 fiscal year. School committee members approved the budget by a 6-3 vote, with members Maureen Binienda, Dianna Biancheria, and Kathleen Roy in opposition.

Dr. Rachel Monárrez, presented her second budget since being appointed to lead Superintendent of Worcester Public Schools. This year's budget process was much different than her first, with the previous superintendent, Maureen Binienda, now a school committee member.

Binienda and committee member Diana Biancheria proposed several changes to the budget. Both made several references to policies of the past, while managing to denigrate school employees, attempting to eliminate the position of an existing school employee which isn't funded by taxpayers, make significant cuts to new approach to student behavior management, and lament the lack of long-term suspensions.
