Second Chance Animal Services. with locations in East Brookfield and Worcester, passed a milestone at its newest location in Springfield this month.  It’s doctors performed the 55,000th spay/neuter surgery in Western Massachusetts.

Second Chance opened its first location in East Brookfield in 2005 and also has a location at 831 Main St. in Worcester.

Founded to provide services to undeserved communities, the facilities provide a full range of veterinary services. Qualified applicants may be eligible for subsidized spay/neuter surgeries made possible through grants.

Spayed or neutered pets help less pets end up in shelters and help protect from life threatening conditions including pyometra and testicular cancer.
