Second Man Faces Murder Charge in July Shooting in Worcester

WORCESTER- Anthony Negron, 26, of Camden, NJ is the second person charged in the murder in the shooting of Luis Tiru-Romero.

Worcester Police found Romero near Pleasant St. on July 9. 2020, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his chest and head.

Romero initially survived the shooting but was in a hospital or another medical facility from the time of the shooting until his death on January 30.

Negron and Jose Merced, 32, of Worcester, both faced charges of assault and battery and a range of firearms charges connected to the shooting.

When Romero died on January 30, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. moved to charge both Merced and Negron with Murder.

Merced’s arraignment on the murder charge was Monday, February 1. The judge ordered Merced held without bail.
