WORCESTER – The Shawna Shea Film Festival, founded by The Shawna E. Shea Memorial Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, returns to Worcester from July 16 through July 19. This year features two different venues: Studio 50 at WICN, at 50 Portland St., and the Hilton Garden Inn, at 35 Major Taylor Blvd.

The festival features both a competition for both short and feature length screenplays. Winners receive their awards at the Hilton Garden Inn on July 19. .
Tickets are $10 and available online.
The Shawna E. Shea Memorial Foundation was created after the tragic death of founder Skip Shea’s daughter, Shawna, who passed away at age 16 in a motor vehicle crash. Shawna loved movies, and Skip founded this festival in her honor.
The mission statement of the foundation is:
“We believe the arts and education are essential to creating a vibrant, healthy community and world.
The mission of the Shawna Foundation is to equitably promote and support students through scholarship and showcase artists in filmmaking, performance arts, poetry and other creative endeavors with a focus on underrepresented communities.”
The festival is also seeking volunteers, specifically college and high school students interested in film.
