Worcester Police Investigating Shooting of 26-year-old Male

UPDATE:  Detective have arrested 26-year-old Tajawn Boutwell-Campbell of Worcester, the man found with a gunshot wound on Monday. During the investigation, Boutwell-Campbell gave differing accounts of the incident.

Police believe he shot himself while in his vehicle on Elizabeth St. 

Boutwell-Campbell  faces charges of Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of the Dwelling, Improperly Storing a Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property over $1,200, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Misleading a Police Investigation.

WORCESTER – The Worcester Police Department [WPD] is investigating a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon on Elizabeth St.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 31 Elizabeth St. just before 4 PM. When they arrived to the scene, a 26-year-old male was found with gunshot wounds to his leg.

Medical aid was given to the man and he was transported by EMTs to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and there’s limited suspect information.
