Police: 2 Shootings Last Night near Shrewsbury St. After Worcester Fireworks Display

WORCESTER – Around 10:30 PM on Tuesday night — following the completion of the City’s fireworks and July 4th celebration at East Park  — an 18-year-old man was shot on Gage St., just blocks away from the festivities on Shrewsbury St.

According to several reports, the 18-year-old was shot multiple times in front of 59 Gage St. He was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The 18-year-old victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Later in the night, Worcester Police officers also responded to a shooting in the vicinity of Shrewsbury St. and Lyons St.

Sources told ThisWeekinWorcester.com that police closed Shrewsbury St. between Plum and Lyons St. for several hours overnight.

A 19-year-old male was shot after a dispute with another male on Shrewsbury St. He was transported to the hospital, and his wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
