WORCESTER – A throwback to the early days of Worcester’s Greendale Mall has made an appearance in 2021.
The Twitter handle @DreamMachineWoo launched this month as an homage to good ol’ days of spending weekends and school vacations at the Dream Machine with pockets filled with coins and stuffed with tickets.
DreamMachineWoo’s description is a wonderful reminder to relax: “Worcester’s legendary Dream Machine arcade. Greendale Mall for life. Parody, obviously. Calm down.”
The genius of the account is it’s acting as if Dream Machine at the now-closed Greendale Mall still exists and is providing commentary on national events like how to spend your stimulus checks on coins and Ted Cruz’s family trip to Cancun, while mixing in mentions of some classic arcade favorites like NBA Jam, Pac Man, Street Fighter and how many tickets it takes to get a Tamagotchi machine.
And DreamMachineWoo makes it clear the arcade has no plans to order a “Tick Tock machine.”
There’s also only one employee, Ray. And he’s tired of cleaning up after your kids.
Send yourself back to the mid-90s and give a follow to DreamMachineWoo on Twitter.
Myth Buster: pulling your tickets out slowly won’t earn you more tickets.
What WILL earn you more tickets? Not constantly going for the 50 point skee ball circle. pic.twitter.com/3YuA9kUGer
