SOUTHBOROUGH – Southborough Police Sargent James Deluca was stabbed while inside the Public Safety Building Tuesday, June 22, around 10 PM.
Deluca was released from UMass Memorial Hospital on Wednesday morning.
Deluca was interviewing a man when the incident occurred. A mental health professional had recommended the suspect for further evaluation.
While Deluca was preparing the man to transfer to the hospital, the suspect stabbed him with a folding knife.
The suspect fled the building but was apprehended a short time later.
Stuart Angus, 35, Southborough, has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
