WORCESTER – The Massachusetts State Police [MSP] ended a car chase involving a Buick Enclave that was stolen on Route 290 Eastbound early Thursday morning in Kelley Square.

According to the MSP, around midnight Massachusetts State Police Troop C dispatch advised patrols that Oxford Police were pursuing a Dodge pickup truck that had fled from a motor vehicle stop in Webster.

The Dodge pickup truck had three occupants — the driver was reportedly armed. The truck entered 395 northbound at Exit 3. State police joined the pursuit and deployed stop sticks against the suspect’s vehicle, causing damage to its tires.

Moments later, the truck went up the ramp to Route 290 eastbound going in the wrong direction and crashed on the highway.

Following the crash, the male driver exited the pickup and forced the driver of the Enclave from that vehicle while brandishing a handgun. The suspect fled in the Enclave and state police pursued into Worcester.

Around 12:30 AM, the chase ended when the vehicle entered Kelley Square.

The two female passengers of the initial suspect vehicle remained in that vehicle after the initial crash and are being interviewed to determine whether they will face charges. The investigation into the operator’s identity and whereabouts is ongoing.
No injuries were sustained by anyone involved, according to preliminary reports.
