Storm Warnings into Wednesday, Elsa Expected on Friday

The National Weather Service [NWS] has issued a severe weather warnings effecting Worcester County on Tuesday, July 6.

The NWS warns of scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are into the evening on Tuesday, July 6. The storms threaten damaging wind gusts, isolated hail and heavy downpours which may lead to localized flooding.

On Wednesday, July 7, the NWS warns of isolated strong to severe thunderstorms during the day and into the evening.

NWS expects Elsa, a tropical storm nearing hurricane strength as it nears Florida, to pass through the area on Friday. Current predictions expect the storm to pass through southern New England or just off-shore. The storm, or its remnants, threaten locally heavy downpours.

The NWS also issued a heat advisory that ends at 7 PM on Wednesday, July 7, that warns of heat index values from 94 through 99 degrees with high humidity.
