Strong Winds, Torrential Rain Possible in Worcester this Evening

WORCESTER – The National Weather Service [NWS] has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Worcester area from this afternoon until 9 PM this evening.

According to NWS, a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible and could bring damaging wind gusts, large hail and brief torrential rainfall. There is a low possibility for a tornado. 

The thunderstorms are likely to begin after 4 PM with wind gusts as high as 29 MPH.

The thunderstorms are expected before 11 PM and some of the storms could produce heavy rains and frequent lightning. 
 
Scattered showers are expected to continue late into the evening between 11 PM and midnight.
