WORCESTER – A man with ties to Worcester has been arrested by police in Reno, Nevada.
According to Massachusetts State Police [MSP], Daniel Escalante, 42, was arrested on charges of committing sexual assaults against multiple children in Marlborough and around the Worcester County area. Escalante was added to the MSP Most Wanted List back in March.
Daniel Escalante, of Peru — a.k.a. Daniel Escalante-Sanchez, Daniel Sanchez Escalante, Gaerlen Escalante Sanchez, Gaerlen Daniel Escalante, Daniel Escalanto, Daniel Escalante, Daniel Gaerlen Escalante — was wanted for sexual assault charges involving more than one victim.
Escalante is currently being held in Nevada on a fugitive from justice charge. He is expected to appear in the Reno Justice Court on Monday. According to the MSP, prosecutors from Massachusetts will work with Nevada authorities to arrange his rendition to Massachusetts to face child assault charges.
The charges Escalante faces in Middlesex County are: five counts of rape of a child with force; two counts of assault with intent to rape a child; and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
