SUTTON – Massachusetts State Police troopers arrested Shane A. Newman, 39, of Sutton, on Friday in Webster on a warrant for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash that killed 51-year-old Daniel DeLima of Millbury, who was jogging on Singletary Ave. in Sutton.

According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., Newman,  of 113 Putnam Road, Sutton, was arrested by State Police troopers with assistance from Webster Police on a warrant out of Uxbridge District Court.

Newman is charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash causing personal injury and death.

He will be arraigned Monday morning — August 19 — in Uxbridge District Court.

DeLima was found on the lawn in front of 138 Singletary Ave. at about 8:15 AM on Wednesday, Aug.14. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believed DeLima had been struck by a white Cadillac SRX based on debris they found near the scene of the accident. An investigation by the Sutton Police and the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office led them to seek a warrant for Newman.
