30-Year-Old Worcester Man Found Guilty in 2020 Murder

WORCESTER  – A jury found a local man guilty of the murder of Joshua Lopez, 24, of Worcester, in July 2020.

The office of Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr., says on Thursday, Aug. 7, a jury found Leroy Thompson, Jr., 30, of Worcester, guilty of the second-degree murder of Lopez on July 5, 2020. Lopez sat in the backseat of a vehicle, with a minor, near Almont Avenue when he sustained a gunshot wound. Lopez died a day later.

The jury also returned a guilty verdict for Thompson on a charge of reckless endangerment of a child.

The judge in the case scheduled sentencing for Sept. 24.
