Today’s Weather in Worcester – Wednesday January 8

By Tom Marino | January 8, 2020
Last Updated: February 3, 2021

A cold front is expected to push across southern New England this afternoon. This frontal system will bring with it a round of snow showers and snow squalls across Central Mass during the mid-afternoon hours today. Any snow showers or snow squalls will bring with them a short period of heavy snow with strong wind gusts of up to 40-50 mph. This combination will lead to whiteout conditions in some very localized areas. In addition, any snow showers and snow squalls may deposit a quick inch or so of snow accumulation in some areas.

If you are traveling this afternoon, use extreme caution if you encounter any snow showers or snow squalls as road conditions may become quite slippery very quickly. In addition, very low visibility will be likely with any snow showers or snow squalls making driving tough in areas that are being impacted by them.

Windy weather is expected tonight with northwest winds gusting up to 40 to 50 mph at times under clear skies. The combination of low temperatures of between 10 and 15 Degrees and the strong winds will lead to wind chill temperatures of Zero to 10 below zero.

The winds will greatly diminish on Thursday under sunny skies. High temperatures Thursday will be in the upper 20s.

Friday is expected to start out with a little bit of sunshine, however, skies will become cloudy by afternoon. High temperatures Friday will be near 45 Degrees.

A very mild day is expected on Saturday under cloudy skies. High temperatures Saturday will be in the upper 50s. Worcester’s record high temperature Saturday is 58 Degrees set in 1924. This record could either be tied or broken.

Rain is expected on Saturday night that will continue through Sunday morning before ending around midday Sunday. In addition, there is a low chance for a thunderstorm or two during Sunday morning. Low temperatures Saturday night will be between 45 and 50 Degrees. Temperatures on Sunday will start out in the low to mid 50s during the morning with temperatures falling through the 40s during the afternoon.

A partly sunny day is expected on Monday with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees.

Tuesday looks cloudy with high temperatures near 40 Degrees.

Some light snow or light freezing rain is possible Tuesday evening that will change to all rain late Tuesday night. Next Wednesday looks cloudy with some light rain around. High temperatures next Wednesday will be near 40 Degrees.
