Today’s Weather in Worcester – Tuesday, January 7

Last Updated: February 2, 2021

WORCESTER – Increasing amounts of clouds are expected this afternoon as a low pressure system begins to approach the area. High temperatures this afternoon will be between 35 and 40 Degrees.

That low pressure system will pass to the southeast of Nantucket tonight before heading for Nova Scotia on Wednesday. Light snow is expected to develop across Central Mass between about 9 pm and midnight tonight and continue through the rest of the night tonight. Snow accumulations from a dusting to one inch at the most can be expected tonight.

The light snow will come to an end around sunrise Wednesday morning with some snow showers hanging on during Wednesday morning.

Wednesday & Thursday: Windy weather is expected on Wednesday with northwest winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. High temperatures Wednesday will be in the upper 30s.

Windy and cold weather is expected on Wednesday night under clear skies. The combination of low temperatures of between 10 and 15 Degrees and northwest winds gusting up to 40 mph will lead to wind chill temperatures of Zero to 10 below zero.

The winds will greatly diminish on Thursday under sunny to partly sunny skies. High temperatures Thursday will be in the upper 20s.

Friday through Sunday: Friday is expected to be a cloudy day. In addition, there will be some scattered rain shower activity around from time to time, but it will not be a washout. High temperatures Friday will be near 45 Degrees.

A very mild day is expected on Saturday with widespread rain shower activity expected. High temperatures Saturday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees and this could either tie or break the record high temperature for the day in Worcester. The record high temperature on Saturday in Worcester is 58 Degrees set in 1924. This record could either be tied or broken.

Rain is expected on Saturday night that will continue into Sunday morning before ending by Sunday afternoon. It looks like the rain will end long before any colder air arrives. This means that the chances of a changeover from rain to ice or snow are very low. Low temperatures Saturday night will be near 40 Degrees. High temperatures Sunday will be near 45 Degrees.

A look ahead to next week:

A partly sunny day is expected on Monday with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees.

We then turn our attention towards the possibility of some snow or ice that could impact Central Mass late Monday night through next Tuesday. Obviously, we are still a week out from this even possibly happening, so it’s nothing to be overly concerned or worried about right now – just know that there is a possibility for some snow and ice late Monday night and next Tuesday.
