Varying amounts of cloud cover can be expected throughout Sunday Afternoon and there will be some intermittent very light snow from time to time. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. High temperatures will be near 35 Degrees.
Sunday Night & Monday: A mixture of rain and snow is expected in the lower elevations and valleys of Central Mass and snow is expected across the higher elevations of Central Mass starting between about 1 am and 3 am tonight. The rain-snow mix in the lower elevations and all snow in the higher elevations is expected to continue through Monday morning before changing to rain everywhere across Central Mass during Monday afternoon.
Snow amounts late tonight through Monday morning will range from a dusting in the valleys and lower elevations of Central Mass, such as the Blackstone Valley to 1 to perhaps 2 inches of snow accumulation in the higher elevations of Central Mass, such as the Worcester Hills.
Low temperatures tonight will be between 30 and 35 Degrees. High temperatures Monday will be between 40 and 45 Degrees.
Monday Night: Any leftover rain will end early Monday evening and the rest of Monday night is expected to be cloudy. Low temperatures Monday night will be near 30 Degrees.
Tuesday: A weak area of low pressure is expected to pass near the south coast of New England during Tuesday. This weather system will bring a mixture of light snow and rain to the region on Tuesday morning with cloudy skies expected during Tuesday afternoon. High temperatures Tuesday will be near 40 Degrees.
Wednesday: An area of high pressure will control our weather throughout Wednesday. This means that partly sunny skies are expected with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees.
Wednesday Night Through Thursday: An area of low pressure is expected to head northeastward towards our area on Wednesday night and Thursday. There are a considerable amount of questions as to the exact track this storm will take and what effects it will have on our weather.
Some of the weather forecast guidance shows a track across northern New England, which would mean yet another quick snow to rain event late Wednesday night through Thursday. Other weather forecast guidance, however, shows a storm track near the south coast of New England, which would mean mostly all snow late Wednesday night and Thursday.
My thinking right now is somewhere in the middle of these two ideas. This would mean a storm track across central New England. So, snow should overspread Central Mass late Wednesday night and then quickly change to freezing rain and sleet around sunrise Thursday morning. A mixture of freezing rain and sleet is then expected to continue during Thursday morning before changing to all rain by Thursday afternoon. The rain is then expected to end by Thursday evening.
Friday: Another high pressure system will build into the area for Friday bringing partly sunny skies and cold temperatures. High temperatures Friday will be between 25 and 30 Degrees.
