WORCESTER – Heavy showers and a few thunderstorms are expected across Central Mass for a few hours on Sunday morning before coming to an end by 9 to 10 AM Sunday. There is the possibility that one or two of these thunderstorms could be strong to severe & could produce up to 50 to 60 mph wind gusts.

Record high temperatures are expected on Sunday morning. Temperatures during Sunday morning will peak at between 65 and 69 Degrees. Worcester’s record high temperature Sunday is 59 Degrees set in 2018. This record high temperature is likely to be broken on Sunday.

West winds behind the cold front will import drier air into the region on Sunday afternoon. This means that there will be some partial clearing Sunday afternoon & temperatures are expected to fall through the 50s.

Clear skies are expected on Sunday night with low temperatures near 25 Degrees.

Here’s a look at the next five days: Monday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees.

Tuesday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees.

A mixture of light snow and light rain is expected on Tuesday night with little or no snow accumulation expected. The light snow-light rain mixture will come to an end by sunrise Wednesday morning.

Wednesday is then expected to be cloudy with high temperatures near 45 Degrees.

A stronger low pressure system has the potential to bring a mix of snow and rain late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Low temperatures Wednesday night will be near 35 Degrees. High temperatures Thursday will be near 40 Degrees.

Friday is expected to be partly sunny and colder with high temperatures near 30 Degrees.

Next weekend: Turning to next weekend, an area of low pressure is forecast to track near southern New England Saturday night. The exact track of this storm right now is very uncertain, as it should be for a storm that is about a week away. There are at least a couple of possible storm track scenarios that I put forth in my morning forecast that can be read at Route20Weather.com.

My thinking right now is that we will see snow to start with during the day on Saturday. From there, the snow may either mix with or change to rain on Saturday night before ending next Sunday morning.

Obviously, there is plenty of time to keep an eye on next weekend’s possible storm & I will keep you updated as needed.
