Worcester Man Sentenced for Federal Drug Distribution Charges

SPRINGFIELD - The Department of Justice announced a federal judge in Springfield sentenced a local man to over four years in prison for drug distribution on May 17.

Johanny Torres-Rojas, 57, of Worcester, received a sentence of 57 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release. Torres-Rojas pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Torres-Rojas pleaded guilty in December 2022.

According to federal prosecutors, on Nov. 20, 2019 and Nov. 26 2019, Torres-Rojas distributed pills containing fentanyl and heroin to a confidential source in Worcester. On Jan 13, 2020, he distributed pills containing fentanyl and methamphetamine to the same confidential source in Worcester. In total, the three purchases combined for:

  • 835 grams of pills containing methamphetamine;
  • 102 grams of pills containing fentanyl; and
  • 30 grams of pills containing heroin.
