Traffic Advisory for Worcester’s Tree Lighting Ceremony Tonight

WORCESTER – Beginning at 2 PM today, Front Street and Franklin Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic from Main Street to Church Street due to this evening’s Festival of Lights Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration on the Worcester Common.

The festivities begin at 3 p.m. with the four Red Sox World Series trophies — 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018 — on display.


The City strongly recommends visitors to arrive early. There is plenty of affordable parking available within walking distance of the Worcester Common, including the Worcester Common Garage at 2 Eaton Place, Mercantile Center Parking Garage, Federal Plaza Parking Garage and the Pearl-Elm Parking Garage.

Schedule of Events:

3-5:30 p.m.        World Series trophies photo opportunity

4:30 p.m.             Worcester Common Oval Public Ice Skating Rink opens to the public with free admission (Skate rentals cost $5.00 per pair)

5:15-6 p.m.        Performances by Worcester Public Schools (Burncoat Prep School, Rice Square Elementary and Burncoat Quadrivium)

6:15 p.m.             Brynn Elliott

6:45 p.m.             Santa Parade

7:00 p.m.             Tree Lighting, Pictures with Santa and more
