NWS Issues Tropical Storm Warning for Worcester County

WORCESTER – The National Weather Service [NWS] has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the Greater Worcester area through Wednesday morning.

Forecasts predict storm-force winds up to 40-60 miles per hour and 2-4 inches of rain. Prediction estimate the peak hours of the storm to fall between 5 PM and midnight on Tuesday, August 4.

All public aquatics facilities, including pools, beaches and spray parks, and postponement of all regularly scheduled recreation programs including Recreation Worcester on Tuesday, August 4.

The following aquatics facilities will be closed on Tuesday:

  • Bell Pond Beach
  • East Spray Park
  • Crompton Park Pool
  • Greenwood Spray Park
  • Indian Lake Beach
  • John J. Binienda Memorial Beach
  • Shore Park Beach

Winds at 40-60 miles per hour can snap and uproot trees, create projectiles from lightweight objects and create scattered power outages.
