WORCESTER, MA – On Tuesday, January 21, the team behind ThisWeekinWorcester.com announced it will be expanding into Western Massachusetts and launching ThisWeekinWesternMass.com — a regional news and entertainment website for Massachusetts residents west of Worcester County.

Similar to ThisWeekinWorcester.com [TWIW], ThisWeekinWesternMass.com [TWIWM] will focus its coverage on information readers want to know — from new business announcements and city government happenings to weather and public safety issues.

“The opportunity to expand the ‘This Week’ brand in another market was clear. After a hugely successful 2019 on ThisWeekinWorcester.com, we moved quickly to address which market we believe our model can thrive in,” said TWIW President and founder Patrick Sargent. “We’re looking forward to providing quality news coverage and relevant information to our readers in Western Massachusetts.”

TWIWM will have regular daily news coverage, as well as “5 Things You Need to Know Today in Western Mass,” five days a week, local weather coverage from Route 20 Weather every day, Follo’s food reviews, “All the Things You Need to Do this Weekend in Western Mass,” monthly event calendars, movie premiere calendars, regional content and much more.

“Our approach to Western Mass. will be similar to our approach in Worcester. We will determine what information we believe residents want to know and move forward from there. It’s an under-served area of our state for local news coverage. Western Massachusetts residents are clamoring for more news and we aim to help fill that void,” said TWIW’s VP of Business Operations, Tom Marino.

ThisWeekinWesternMass.com will launch Tuesday, February 18. Stay tuned for more details and another announcement in the coming weeks.

In September 2017, ThisWeekinWorcester.com launched as a hyper-local news and entertainment site. ThisWeekinWesternMass.com is the first sister-site to be launched by the TWIW team.
