SHREWSBURY – Two Connecticut men were arrested on Wednesday night in Shrewsbury following a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 290 for trafficking cocaine.
According to the Massachusetts State Police [MSP], around 9:35 PM, Jose Alvarado-Valderr was pulled over in his 2005 Kia Sedona for having a defective brake lights and improperly using the left lane for travel.
Alvarado-Valderr, 26, of Stratford, CT, had a suspended license. The passenger in the vehicle, Irmarie Vargas-Colon, 23, also of Stratford, CT, didn’t have a driver’s license.
Troopers searched the vehicle before it was towed away and found one kilogram of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Both men were placed under arrest and charged with the following:
- Trafficking in cocaine
- Conspiracy to violate the drug law
Alvarado-Valler was additionally cited for the following:
- Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
- Motor vehicle lights violation
- Failure to drive in the right lane
Both men were held on $25,000.00 bail pending their arraignment in Westborough District Court this morning.
