WORCESTER – Before noon on Thursday, the Worcester Police Neighborhood Response was conducting surveillance in the area of Main and Oread streets when an officer noticed a male and female walking aimlessly up and down Main St. from King St. to Oread Place.

The male and female — later identified as Sugeyn Vega, 42, of 2 Tracy Place, and Miguel Romero, 23, of Worcester — were approached by two males who counted out several bills and passed them to Vega.

Vega then made a signal to Romero — who looked around as if looking for police. Romero took something from his mouth and passed it to one of the buyers.

Officers then approached the buyers and recovered crack cocaine.

Romero and Vega were placed under arrest and charged with Distribution of a Class B Substance and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws. They will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
