WORCESTER – On Thursday morning, two men were arrested following a street level drug deal on Main St. in Worcester by officers in the Worcester Police Department’s [WPD] Neighborhood Response Team.
According to the WPD, just after 10 AM, NRT officers observed two men exchanging cash and drugs in the area of the 500 to 600 block of Main Street.
Carlos Roman, 29, of 18 Penn Ave. met with three other males and began walking north on Main St. towards the area of Federal Street to meet with Eric Larson, 55, of 44 Temple St. Roman removed an object from his mouth as Larson handed Roman cash.
It was clear to the officers that a street level drug transaction take place. Larson then made his way south on Main St. while Roman walked in the opposite direction. Larson was stopped at the Salvation Army by 640 Main St. by NRT officers who discovered a small clear baggie of crack cocaine.
Officers then asked Roman to stop in front of City Hall. Initially, according to the WPD, Roman did not comply and began to swallow something. Once he finished swallowing he stopped.
Roman was placed under arrest and charged with Distribution of Class B Substance. A search of Roman produced 3 cellphones and $55.00 in cash.
Both men were transported to police headquarters for processing without incident.
