Two Injured in Shooting of Vehicle on Vernon Hill, WPD Seeking Suspects

WORCESTER – The Worcester Police Departments is seeking the suspect or suspects involved in a shooting of a vehicle near Providence St. Sunday night that led to two people injured.

According to the WPD, around 10 PM on Nov. 25, officers responded to the area of 86 Providence Street for a report of a motor vehicle that had crashed into a wall at the intersection of Providence and Patterson streets. Officers were told that the incident may have been the result of shots fired and that one of the occupants in the vehicle may have been shot.

A 21-year-old female operator and a 23-year-old male passenger were still in the vehicle when occupants arrived. Both occupants were suffering from injuries as a result of the crash. The occupants said they crashed because they were being shot at by occupants in another unknown vehicle.

According to the victims, they were traveling on Pattison Street, heading towards Providence Street when an unknown vehicle pulled up behind them. One of the occupants within the unknown vehicle began to fire shots at the victims. The operator panicked and accelerated the vehicle in an effort to get away from the suspect vehicle. The operator lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall.

Both occupants were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The female suffered some broken bones while the male passenger received some cuts and a possible leg injury. Neither had any gun shot wounds.

Officers at the scene located ballistic evidence. The victim’s car received numerous bullet holes. Officers also located a parked vehicle that was hit with a stray bullet.

WPD Crime Scene Unit arrived and processed evidence. WPD detectives arrived at the scene and conducted interviews.

The victim’s vehicle was towed from the scene and processed. There is little information on the suspect vehicle or the occupants at this time.
