MARLBORO – UMass Memorial Medical Center in Marlboro activated emergency operations and began the evacuation of all patients at around 12:30 AM on Monday, Feb. 9.
The hospital describes te issue as an “operational challenge” with its heating and hot water systems. Multiple news agencies report that a boiler failure led to some flooding at the facility.
The evacuation of the hospital took about four hours, with patients moved to other UMass Medical facilities.
The hospital did not provide a number of those evacuated at the time of publication.
Fire and ambulance services supported the transport of patients, including the Northborough Fire Department.
The hospital has not provided a timeframe for resolving the problem.
