WORCESTER- The Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation will be hosting a self-defense workshop for the members of Girls, Inc. Worcester this Friday afternoon
The “Strike for Vanessa” self-defense training is being hosted in memory of Vanessa Marcotte, a 27-year-old Leominster native who was murdered in Aug. 2016 while jogging in Princeton.
The training will be led by world-renowned hand-to-hand combat expert Avital Zeisler, who will also be conducting a conference on Sunday, Jan. 21 at Boston University. Zeisler is a certified Krav Maga Instructor, Security Consultant, Keynote Speaker and Penguin Random House Author.
The purpose of the Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation is to reduce violence against women by partnering with organizations like Girls Inc. The Foundation will be presenting Girls, Inc. a check for $25,000 for its work educating girls in self-defense and media literacy activities.
The event will take place at 3:15 PM at Girls, Inc of Worcester at 125 Providence St., Worcester.
