WORCESTER – Following the execution of search warrants at two separate locations, the Worcester Police Department Vice Squad arrested Hazmides Duqeestrada, 45, of 91 Penn Ave., and Pedro Then, 32, of 36 Canterbury St., and obtained more than $30,000 in cash and nearly 20 grams of heroin on Wednesday.

During the morning hours, members of the vice squad set up surveillance on both properties. A search of Duquesstrada‘s apartment produced a digital scale, $460.00 in cash, a small bag of marijuana, and a bag that contained 13 individually wrapped bags of Heroin.

Duquesstrada was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute (subsequent offense), and a Drug Violation within 300’ feet of a School (Worcester Academy).

The search of Then’s apartment produced drug paraphernalia which coincides with the packaging and selling of illegal narcotics. The search also produced a large bag that contained heroin, a box containing $30,020.00 in cash, a water jug that contained another $582.00 in cash, several other bags of Heroin, and another $120.00 in cash. The total weight of the discovered heroin was approximately 19 grams.

Then was placed under arrest and charged with trafficking in Heroin (18-36 grams).

The cash was seized as evidence and the drugs were processed and sent out for analysis.

Both men will be arraigned on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
