WORCESTER – A traffic stop by Worcester police led to the arrest of a local man on gun charges on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Detectives with the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit saw a vehicle roll through a stop sign at around 6:30 PM. When they initiated a traffic stop, the driver failed to stop and drove to a nearby residence.
Officers removed the driver, Deng Jiff Vilayvanh, 34, from the vehicle and arrested him.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded firearm in the glove compartment of Vilayvanh’s vehicle. Vilayvanh does not have a license to carry a firearm.
Vilayvanh faces charges of:
- Carrying a Firearm Without A License;
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm;
- Possession of Ammunition Without An FID Card;
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License;
- Failure to Stop for Police;
- Operating to Endanger;
- Stop Sign Violation; and
- Failure to Properly Display a License Plate Number.
