WORCESTER — The Worcester Arts Council (WAC) has opened the grant applications period for its 2024 fiscal year funding cycle. Applications are due by Oct. 17. The council will award $226,000 in funding for local arts and cultural programs from the Mass Cultural Council (MCC).

WAC is offering two categories of grants:

  • Project Grants aim to support individuals and organizations in Worcester County that develop innovative, collaborative projects with a public benefit. These should also aim to reach under-served populations and demonstrate creative excellence.
  • Fellowship Grants are designed to help Worcester-based artists develop and explore their work independently.

Emphasis will be on projects focusing on public art, musical performances, arts education, and programs for all age groups.

The funding priorities for fiscal year 2024 funding are:

  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access (DEIA): Projects should elevate the voices and experiences of historically marginalized groups, creating opportunities through a DEIA lens.
  • Locations: Projects benefitting historically underserved areas of Worcester will be prioritized.

Grant application guidelines and instructions are available at WAC’s website. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 17. Applicants will receive decisions in January.

WAC will host two virtual grant workshops. Sign up for the first session scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 8 PM or the second session scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. First-time applicants are encouraged to attend.
