Today’s Weather in Worcester – Sunday, February 1

By TWIW Staff | February 2, 2020
Last Updated: February 3, 2021

Plenty of clouds are expected to stick around throughout the rest of Sunday, although some breaks in the clouds are possible during the afternoon. In addition, a passing snow flurry is possible the rest of the morning and a passing brief rain shower is possible in the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 40 Degrees.

Sunday Night is expected to start out with some scattered snow shower activity during the evening before it ends shortly after midnight. Any snow accumulations during Sunday evening will be a dusting at most. Low temperatures will be near 30 Degrees.

Monday: Monday may end up being the nicest day of this upcoming week. Any early morning clouds will give way to partly sunny skies with lots of sunshine expected during the afternoon. High temperatures Monday will be near 45 Degrees.

Tuesday will be cloudy and there is the possibility for a few rain showers during the afternoon. High temperatures Tuesday will be near 45 Degrees.

The weather forecast for the middle to end of this coming week continues to be uncertain, although it does look active.

A stationary front will be positioned across the area during Wednesday. At the same time, a wave of low pressure will push across the area and help to push this front to our south. This will lead to some light rain across the region on Wednesday. High temperatures Wednesday will be near 40 Degrees.

That frontal boundary will be positioned to our south during Wednesday night and Thursday as an area of low pressure tracks into the northeastern United States. It is expected that there will be enough cold air around for snow to occur late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. This snow may change first to freezing rain and sleet later Thursday morning and then eventually to all rain sometime during Thursday afternoon. This means that slippery roads are possible for the Thursday morning commute. Finally, it is possible that the freezing rain and sleet may hang on into Thursday evening across parts of the northern Worcester Hills where the colder air will be harder to scour out.

That low pressure system will lift northward into southern Canada and it looks possible that rain will occur on Thursday night into Friday. It should be noted though that we will need to watch for the possibility for freezing rain and sleet to continue across northern Worcester County where the colder air may remain in place. This part of the forecast is very uncertain and may take a couple of days, at least, to iron out.

The rain will come to an end on Friday evening with a partly sunny day expected on Saturday with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees.
