5 Great Ways to Spend Your Weekend in Worcester

It’s been a relatively “warm” January so far. Make it even hotter with exciting events in Worcester!

Burn it up this weekend with plans to spice up your life. ThisWeekinWorcester.com has your list of five fun events happening this weekend. 

How will you heat up your Saturday and Sunday? Get out to discover great music or take a walk in the woods. 

 

Whoooo is ready for a fun weekend? 

You should be, especially if you join Mass Audubon Broad Meadow Brook for their Owl Prowl for Adults workshop this Saturday!

From 5 PM to 6:30 PM, come learn about New England owls. The workshop will begin with a short introduction to their behavior and adaptations, and then all participants will walk on nearby trails to listen and look for local owls. 

 

Put your records on after this weekend!

If you are a record collector, you are in luck this weekend. The Auburn Elks Lodge in Auburn will be holding their Worcester Record riot. Come by between 8 AM to 3:30 PM to dig through some old vinyls.

The Record Riot will have more than 40 dealers selling LPs, CDs, 45s, and more. Early admission at 8 AM is $3, and later admission will be $10. 

 

Sign up for a Self-Defense Workshop! 

This Saturday McCoy’s Action Karate will be holding a Self-Defense Workshop since January is National Personal Self-Defense Awareness Month. All ages are invited to take the course, and hours have been allotted for certain age groups.

At 9:15 AM, a course for children from the ages of two to five will be running. At 10 AM there will be classes for teenagers and adults, and another class for children of the ages 6 to 8. Lastly, at 10:45 AM, there will be a class for children of the ages nine to twelve. 

 

Get artsy this Sunday! 

If you are interested in art, literature, and poetry you will be at the right place at the White Room in Worcester for the Poet’s Cauldron event. This Sunday from 6 PM to 9 PM, you can look forward forward special guest Paul Willis as well as Dan Burke and the Royal Treatment.

There will also be time for an open mic. Paying a $5 to $20 fonation is suggested, and you should find free street parking on Sundays. 

 

Baseball and ice skating? You never knew a better match could exist! 

Lace up your skates and get on the ice this Saturday. Join the Worcester Common Oval as they bring in the Worcester Red Sox!

Fun for the whole family with ice skating, photos with Smiley Ball, and even enter a special ticket giveaway! This event is from 1 PM to 3 PM. Admission for skating is $5 and it is $5 for rentals.
