West Brookfield Man Dies in Drowning Incident on Saturday, Police Investigating

WEST BROOKFIELD – The body of a 54-year-old man was pulled from the Quaboag River on Saturday in West Brookfield, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

The body of Kevin A. Dion, of 72 Long Hill Road, was pulled from the river near the bridge on Long Hill Road, 

According to the DA’s office, Dion had packed a lunch and gone fishing Saturday morning. Friends of Dion began searching for him because he wasn’t answering his cell phone. His friends found his folding chair and belongings on the river bank. 

Just before 6:30 PM, people in a small boat spotted Dion’s body in the water.The West Brookfield Police retrieved the body.

Although the death does not appear to be suspicious, State Police Detectives and West Brookfield Police are investigating.
