West Brookfield Man Dies after Being Hit by Car in Sturbridge

STURBRIDGE – A 67-year-old man has died after getting struck by a motor vehicle while walking on Main St. in Sturbridge Friday night.

According to the Sturbridge Police, Peter L. Morin. of West Brookfield, was walking on the westbound side of Main St. at the intersection of Fairview Park Rd. shortly before 5:41 PM on Friday when he was struck by a vehicle. 

Morin was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

Police said the area that Morin was struck is not well-lit and there is no sidewalk. There was also rain and patchy fog. 

With the assistance of the Sturbridge Fire Department, officers administered first aid to Morin before he was transported to the hospital. 

Members of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s Accident Reconstruction Team [CEMLEC] are investigating the incident with the Medical Examiner’s Office.

As a result of this crash the roadway was closed off and traffic was redirected from the area for nearly three hours. 

The investigation remains ongoing. No criminal charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
